Here’s our New Year’s walk muffin recipe, so that you too can treat your pooches to some muffin madness! Home-made, nice and cheap with no nasty additives or preservatives.
400g self-rising flour (or 400g plain flour and 3 tsp baking powder)
125ml vegetable oil
250ml semi-skimmed milk
1 x packet of sponge mix (400g)
120ml semi-skimmed milk
2 medium eggs
250g grated cheddar cheese
170g liver pate (optional)
4 hotdogs cut into small pieces (optional)
Mini muffin tray
Mini paper cases
Pre-heat the oven at 180C
Place the paper cases in the muffin tray.
1.- Mix all the ingredients together with an electric mixer (except the grated cheese and hotdogs, if using) until you have a smooth batter.
2.- Fold in the grated cheddar cheese and hot dogs, if using.
3.- Fill the muffin cases 2/3 full. Bake for about 20-25 minutes until risen.
4.- Leave the muffins in the tin to cool for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool down completely. You can get creative and use low-fat cream cheese and/or peanut butter as decoration on top.
5.- Voila! You now have loads of yummy and inexpensive dog mini muffins to get that pooch super obedient! Use them sparingly to keep the calories down.
