Helping you understand your dog
Our dog training classes are designed to give you the skills to help you communicate with your dog, so that he is responsive to your requests. As a behaviourist, I strongly believe that good dog training is based on mutual understanding. You need to understand your dog and your dog needs to understand you. By doing this, you will form a strong bond with your dog, enabling you to have a happy and compliant dog, who is a joy to live with.
Why reward-based?
All our dog training classes are based on reward-based methods. This allows both you and your dog to enjoy the training together and to be in an environment which is open to learning, relaxed and not threatening. The best results are always obtained when both parties are enjoying the training and when you are both supported by knowledgable professionals. We encourage the whole family to come and attend the classes. The more, the merrier!
What happens in class?
Our classes are very varied and based on fun and interesting exercises and games. You will not be heeling around the village hall in our classes! You will be weaving through chairs, jumping obstacles, passing other dogs, all whilst having your dog happily heeling at your side. Yes, it is harder to do it this way, but we find both owners and dogs love the games and a challenges. Even better, you end up with a super obedient and responsive dog!
Some of the things we cover are:
- Basic obedience:
- Come when called
- sit
- walking on a loose lead
- wait/stay
- lie down
- good manners
- handling
- Fun Rally-O (circuit training for obedience)
- Fun Agility (builds confidence and body awareness)
- Basic gundog games (great retrieve games your dog will love)
- Scentwork (keep your dog mentally stimulated and find treasures together)
- Tricks and games (impress your friends with your dog’s talents)
- and much more…
We find that because we put in so much fun and distractions in our classes, the dogs learn better and quicker.
